Job Position: Research Assistant (IITA-HR-NRS2015/027)
Location: Ibadan
Job Type: Contract(1-year renewable)
Background and Responsibilities
• Assist in experimenting , planning, setting up and implementation on the field and tissue culture laboratory;
• Engage in tissue culture medium preparation, sub-culturing, washing containers e.t.c.;
• Collect plan data from breeding crossing blocks fields established for tissue culture experiments;
• Assist in harvesting yam tubers and seed from the field the field experiments after applying tissue culture technique;
• Collect samples from yam field (flowers, anthers, ovaries and florescence) and carry out analysis on them in the lab;
• Organize laboratory work for tissue culture experiments and trials;
• Perform any other function as may be assigned by the Supervisor.
Job Requirements
Qualification and Experience
B.Sc. in Agriculture, Botany, Plant Science, Microbiology or related field with minimum of two (2) years’ experience on plant tissue culture and related field.
