Job Title: Backup Administrator
Location: Lagos Nigeria
Role: Backup Admin
Job Description
• Install, configure, and maintain backup infrastructure hardware and software for clients and backup servers.
• Experience in the VCS (Veritas Cluster Server) with NetBackup backup environment
• Experience in the management and support of EMC/Data Domain (dd990) Virtual tape libraries.
• Experience in the NDMP backup.
• Installation and configuration of Tape drives and library (SAN SL3000).
• Basic knowledge and technical understanding of SOLARIS, LINUX and Microsoft Windows-based operating systems.
• Perform necessary patch and maintenance pack installation on backup environment.
• Recommendation on improvements in backup environments.
• Vendor Co-ordination on Hardware Break – Fix.
• Standby support during the Non-business hours.
• Daily schedule Backup monitoring and restore operation.
• Ensure the backup infrastructure hardware and software is under maintenance contract
• Check for End-Of-Service-Life (EOSL) notifications and notify the same to Customer
• Install client software on new servers which needs to be added to backup system.
• Ensure daily ,weekly and monthly backups are successful
• Troubleshooting daily backup issues and resolve
• Participate in DR Testing.
• Independently manages and implements highly technical solutions.
• Provide workgroup / team leadership to projects and processes.
• Consult with clients and other technical staff on complex backup infrastructure design
• Implementation or maintenance issues. Analyzes business requirements and recommends technical solutions.
• Research, evaluate, and recommend enhancements, new tools and technologies for backup infrastructure.
Job Requirements
• Main Skills: Symantec Net Backup Admin / Net backup Admin
• Experience: 4 - 6 Years
• Experience in the installation, customization and reporting functions of the Symantec Opscenter tool suite.
• Experience with capacity planning and performance management tools and concepts
• Excellent consultative and communication skills
